#NationalPoetryMonth Day 15: All I Own

Today on this Day 25 of National Poetry Month,  a little social commentary…

TP3GQ9C2S3

All I Own

All I own fits in a box

I have no jewels

or argyle socks

Some faded photos,

the clothes on my back

Yellowing letters

tied with a ribbon

Mementos and memories

that fit in a box

Refugee

Immigrant

Homeless

Runaway

You spit out the words

That’s all that you see

When did I become

less than me?

Displaced

Forgotten

Reviled

Ignored

How did I lose

my Humanity?
