#NationalPoetryMonth Day 29: Stone Maidens in a Row

My penultimate poem for Day 29 of National Poetry Month.

Stone Maiden

Stone Maidens in a Row

Those little stone maidens all in a row,

come see them hither, along the wall

with downcast eyes, hands folded all

Those little stone maidens all in a row

Come see them hither, along the wall

Such pretty things for cold grey stone,

standing there amidst grass overgrown

Come see them hither, along the wall

Such pretty things for cold grey stone

Makes you wonder what’s underneath

Is it flesh and bone that lies beneath?

Such pretty things for cold grey stone

Makes you wonder what’s underneath,

those little stone maidens all in a row

Is it sad small tales of death and woe?

Makes you wonder what’s underneath

Those little stone maidens all in a row,

come see them hither, along the wall

with downcast eyes, hands folded all

Those little stone maidens all in a row

#NationalPoetryMonth Day 27: Blind to the Bridge

My poem for Day 27 of National Poetry Month.

Bridge

Blind to the Bridge

Bask in the dawn

in her warm, bountiful kiss,

as the sirens ever beckon you

Come blind to the bridge

where you fall

Savour the splendid beauty

of the sky and the season’s stars,

hear their enticing song

Step blind to the bridge

where you fall

Glory in the harvest

in the last days of summer

You cannot drown the voices

Stumble blind to the bridge

where you fall

Feel the embittered cold

deep down into your bones

Heed the sirens’ last call

Crawl blind to the bridge

where you fall

#NationalPoetryMonth Day 26: Ever More

Today we wander into the land of shadows, on this Day 26 of National Poetry Month.

FTF Raven

Ever More

Tap, tap, come the raven,

no, it is not him

He flies far above the path

as the light grows ever dim

Flee, flee, into the woods

ignore the raven’s caw

Hear the silent monster march

to the cavern in the maw

Shush, shush, quiet now

the raven circles here

The Faerie Queen calls for you

and all that you hold dear

#NationalPoetryMonth Day 25: It’s Been A While

My offering for Day 25 of National Poetry Month.

HR8J8DQ58T

It’s Been A While…

We knew each other

once

I smile and say,

It’s been a while…

It’s a little awkward,

odd

to see you again

It’s been a while…

You always made me

smile

It’s good to talk to you

It’s been a while…

Do you remember

when

we used to dance so close?

It’s been a while…

Sometimes I miss

you

I miss being happy

It’s been a while…

I’m sorry that I

left

Why, I can’t recall

It’s been a while…

#NationalPoetryMonth Day 23: Not One, But Many

Today, on Day 23 of National Poetry Month, we have a little contemplation…

LLAZF137WG

Not One, But Many

Voices of the fallen

Whispers from the aether

Not one, but many

Bygone remnants linger

shadows of their former glory,

voices of the fallen

Pause and listen;

echoes in the season’s zephyrs

Whispers from the aether

Forever lost…

Forever pleading…

Not one, but many

#NationalPoetryMonth Day 21: Abstract Infinities

On this Day 21 of National Poetry Month, I venture into the nonsensical…

Numbers

Abstract Infinities

Two plus two

Never blue

Four to five

Are you alive?

Zero past nine

Fates entwine

Three and three

Time for tea

Eleven times seven

sent to heaven

Round and about

the numbers shout

They wiggle and waggle

But do they haggle?

One for ten

and back again
