National Poetry Month: Still Waiting

bridal-1942169_1920

Still Waiting

Another sunset at her window

tracing hearts on the glass

She sits, and she remembers

when the church bells ring

The wedding dress fades sallow,

on a hanger in her wardrobe

She inhales cedar and mothballs

when the church bells ring

He had a charming smile

and he made her promises

Her heart still shatters

when the church bells ring

She waited for him that day

standing on the church steps

Now forever wondering why

when the church bells ring

#NationalPoetryMonth Day 27: Blind to the Bridge

My poem for Day 27 of National Poetry Month.

Bridge

Blind to the Bridge

Bask in the dawn

in her warm, bountiful kiss,

as the sirens ever beckon you

Come blind to the bridge

where you fall

Savour the splendid beauty

of the sky and the season’s stars,

hear their enticing song

Step blind to the bridge

where you fall

Glory in the harvest

in the last days of summer

You cannot drown the voices

Stumble blind to the bridge

where you fall

Feel the embittered cold

deep down into your bones

Heed the sirens’ last call

Crawl blind to the bridge

where you fall

#NationalPoetryMonth Day 25: It’s Been A While

My offering for Day 25 of National Poetry Month.

HR8J8DQ58T

It’s Been A While…

We knew each other

once

I smile and say,

It’s been a while…

It’s a little awkward,

odd

to see you again

It’s been a while…

You always made me

smile

It’s good to talk to you

It’s been a while…

Do you remember

when

we used to dance so close?

It’s been a while…

Sometimes I miss

you

I miss being happy

It’s been a while…

I’m sorry that I

left

Why, I can’t recall

It’s been a while…
