About the Author:

A steadfast and proud sci-fi and fantasy geek, A. F. Stewart was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada and still calls it home. The youngest in a family of seven children, she always had an overly creative mind and an active imagination. She favours the dark and deadly when writing—her genres of choice being dark fantasy and horror—but she has been known to venture into the light on occasion. As an indie author she’s published novellas and story collections, with a few side trips into poetry and non-fiction.

Expressionist of FacebookBanner

Great news!

As mentioned in a previous post, my little horror story, Arthur’s World, was accepted for publication in the Sirens Call eZine. Well…

The Sirens Call eZine – Issue 28 Terrifying Tales is out!

You can check out the website page for the issue #28 link (along with links to back issues). Sirens Call Publications

Or go here for the direct download:

There’s a plethora of wonderfully creepy tales and poems to peruse, along with interviews and artwork. So do pop over and take a look.

And now for other Updates…

I will (despite life’s annoying interruptions) be publishing my new poetry book in October. It’s a collection of my horror poetry, Horror Haiku And Other Poems, and will come out in time to make Halloween extra creepy. I will be doing a cover reveal later in September for the book.

In other book news, Ghosts of the Sea Moon, is nearly finished, but the above mentioned life interruptions have slowed down progress on the novella slightly. It should, however, be ready for publication by the end of the year.

In convention news:

– The Efestival of Words went well and a good time was had by all.

– I recklessly volunteered to run the horror genre for the Brain to Books Cyber Convention, so I’m actively looking to recruit horror authors for the event. If you have published a horror book, and are interested in participating in B2BCYCON, please leave a comment. You can check out the convention FAQ page here:  http://braintobooks.com/b2bcycon-faq/

Registration for B2BCYCON doesn’t begin until October, but feel free to check it out, or ask me questions.

Killers and Demons II: They Return

Evil is back, with a greater appetite for death.

Killers.

Demons.

They lurk forever in the shadows, smile at you in the morning, and haunt your dreams at night. You can’t hide, you can’t run, and there’s no escape. You can only scream when they come for you.

Killers and Demons II:  They Return is a collection of thirteen tales, blending short stories and flash fiction, tales where the blood lingers on your tongue or spurts quickly from the swift cut.

Excerpt From Killers and Demons II: They Return

How Do You Take Your Tea?

“My condolences, my dear. I hear your husband has taken ill. It must be a trial to see such a fine gentleman unwell and abed. I hope it isn’t the grippe? My great aunt Matilda suffered with that malady only last year, and it fair did her in, poor thing. She hasn’t been the same since.”

Sunbeams sprinkled through the window and scattered prettily over the china as Mrs. Millicent Grey nodded over her tea, and feigned the expected air of sadness and commiseration for her guest, Mrs. Rowley. The third attendee—Millicent’s companion, Jane—demurely smiled and nodded. They gathered in Mrs. Grey’s sumptuous parlour for the visit, surrounded by all the creature comforts and a lavish spread of food and beverage.

Mrs. Grey fluttered her eyelids as if she held back tears. “His illness is quite vexing, but not the grippe, thank heavens. His doctor believes it’s severe dyspepsia and has dispensed a tincture.”

“Good to hear. It’s odd though, it coming on so quick. But it happens like that, don’t it? Hopefully he will be well soon. Illness can be such a trial. Such a trial.”

Millicent sighed to maintain the acceptable social demeanor. “Yes, it’s been an anxious and worrisome time.”

She sipped some tea to hide a slight smile. In fact, she felt relief in her spouse’s sickness, and barely gave him a stray thought other than to rejoice in his absence from her daily life. She married a most tedious man who could scarcely hold a thought in his head, let alone carry on an enjoyable conversation. Nevertheless, a woman must make the best of her situation and take advantage of her opportunities. Even if it meant tiresome husbands.
